About the event
Nebraska City is honored to host Dianne Bystrom, director emerita of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics at Iowa State. Dr. Bystrom has contributed to 28 published books on topics of women in politics, voting rights, and the importance of youth voters. Her program will describe how voting rights in the United States have changed over time through the 15th, 19th, and 26th amendments. Bystrom will also share statistics on who has voted in recent elections , as well as information on how to become a registered and informed voter. The assembly will be attended by a portion of the Nebraska City High School student body and is open to the public. America 250: Nebraska City and Friends of Arbor Lodge are sponsoring this program provided through Humanities Nebraska.
